The alcatel 1678 MCC(metro core connection) has an integrated service adapter (ISA) module that provides a layer 2 switching structure of 20 gb/s for optical multi-service nodes (OMSN).

It also combines ADM, MPLS broadband and broadband cross-connect capabilities into a single unit.

Alcatel 1678 MCC simplifies the network by integrating add/remove multiplexer (ADM), broadband and broadband cross-connections, and multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) functions into a single node with a fully generic MPLS control plane.
